Uuriintuya, Nomin-Erdene and Erdenechimeg


This is a trio of singers that graduated from the University of Arts and Culture as long song performers. Their thing is to mix traditional long song with contemporary stuff. There is a blog entry about them here (in Mongolian) with photos and a video clip of their concert Shurankhai. Their website (in Mongolian). Shurankhai is a long song technique.

Bogino duu, short songs

Short songs are another type of Mongolian song. Not as spectacular or ancient as khoomii and long songs and technically not as complex as the latter, but still, performing them requires having a trained voice and good rythm. Short songs are generally very upbeat
