This is an excerpt from a French documentary called Les Bardes de Gengis Khan by Nadine Assoune (in Mongolian with French subtitles), where a young boy is learning the art of khoomii singing. What I found interesting in this film is that his teacher is explaining how a khoomii song is created. Khoomii sounds are created by imitating the sounds of nature, landscape and everything that surrounds us. He tells the young boy to observe a cloud in the sky, for example: the cloud moves, then it becomes darker, the sounds become stronger, then it starts to go away, until it disappears...... No musical notes needed to "write" khoomii, just nature...... Beautiful......
